Is Braz Foundation a non-profit organization?

Braz is a Foundation (stichting) in the Netherlands. We utilize profit (if any) fully in developing the technical platform and operational cost, to be able to serve more people around the world, so we are not an organization targeting to make profit.
 

Why does Braz lend donations through microfinance institutions rather than donate them directly?

Braz believes that by lending the money to micro-entrepreneurs through microfinance institutions will have a more sustainable, and expandable, overall impact. We believe that local entrepreneurship provides an ongoing source of income for the entrepreneur and their communities. Furthermore we believe that lending the money will not only ensure it is used more wisely, but allows for it to be repaid and relended again and again to achieve a maximum impact.
 

Where do the Braz projects come from?

Braz works with a number of Field Partners in the developing countries. These Field Partners are commonly microfinance institutions that provide micro-credit to local micro-entrepreneurs. Once the Field Partner has been accepted as an official Braz partner, they can upload their member loan applications directly to Braz. Braz performs due diligence on all its partners and performs checks on the books and projects' progress. However, while we may perform these efforts, we are not held liable for potential problems with partners: please refer to the terms and conditions for full definition of our limitations of responsibilities. Braz has subscribed to the six principles of client protection, an initiative of the The Smart Campaign  a global effort to unite microfinance partners around a common goal to institute client protection, to better serve clients and strengthen the microfinance industry (www.thesmartcampaign.org) and expects its partners to do the same." While we typically perform these activities, please refer to the limitations of liability.
 

How does donating through the Braz Foundation benefit my corporation?

In addition to knowing that your donation will benefit multiple fellow-entrepreneurs, and their local communities, in developing countries throughout the upcoming months and years, you can become eligible to have your corporate logo placed on the Corporate Champions section on our website (if your annual donation exceeds 2000 euros). Corporate champion section will be available soon.
